Tutoring
The Teaching and Learning Center provides the following tutoring resources: small-group, private, and math and writing labs.
Small-Group Tutoring
Group tutoring offers consistent help throughout the term. Groups of six or fewer students meet two hours per week, beginning week two each term. Individual registration fee is $125 per group.
Private Tutoring
TLC maintains a tutor database for many UO courses. Fees range $9-11 for lower-division courses (100-200 level) and $11-13 for upper-division courses (300 level and above). Lists are
available beginning the second week of each term in 68 PLC.
Math and Writing Labs
The Center also provides math
and writing labs. Free tutors are available.
Financial Assistance
Students may be able to receive reduced fees on tutoring as active members of Student Support Services (SSS) or PathwayOregon.
Contact these programs directly for more information.
Becoming a Tutor
Interested in being hired as a tutor? Return the application form to 68 PLC for consideration. Students wishing to be approved to tutor math must see Doug Hintz at the UO Teaching and Learning Center and either Mike Price or Hayden Harker in the UO Math department.
All tutors must demonstrate academic excellence by having a high GPA and two faculty recommendations that attest to both subject knowledge and ability to tutor specific courses.
